Gegenwind.
Your bike knows which way the wind blows.
No more nasty surprises on the road: Gegenwind shows you before you set off where tailwind, crosswind, or headwind is waiting along your route β and exactly when the best time to leave is.
In four steps
How it works
Enter or import a route
Set a start, destination, and as many waypoints as you like on the map β or import an existing route directly (GPX, KML, GeoJSON, CSV), for example a BRouter export or a stage from a race.
Real routing, not straight lines
Gegenwind calculates the actual route over the road network, not just the distance from A to B.
Wind for every section of the route
Every curve and turn counts: the wind forecast is calculated along the real route, including crosswind β and time-shifted, so later points on the route get the forecast for their actual arrival time, not the departure time.
Find the best time window
Shift your departure time and see instantly how the tailwind and headwind share changes β ideal for deciding whether to leave an hour earlier or later.
What the app does
Features at a glance
Tailwind Compass
Visual wind compass with tailwind index β shows wind direction relative to your heading in km/h.
A β B Routes
Pick start and destination on the map, set departure time, and calculate wind for outbound and return legs.
Multi-Stage Routes
Connect multiple waypoints β wind is weighted per segment and shown as an aggregate result.
Saved Routes
Save favourite routes and reload them with a single tap.
Ride Home
Set a home address and check wind conditions for your commute home with one tap.
Time Comparison
Shift departure time and switch between today and tomorrow β find the best window for tailwind.
Who it's for
For anyone planning a route who wants to know what to expect β from the daily commute to a training ride. Also great if you want to retrace a well-known route: import, say, a stage of the Tour de France and see what the wind conditions would look like there today.
Gegenwind β plan your ride, not just your route.
